Dance is hearing our hearts speak

 

  • Think gracful
  • When doing turns (specifically pirouettes) and you are trying to get around think up not around  
  • Even though you want to be graceful come out of your shell and think big!
  • It's better to be clean and small than big and sloppy
  • It's easy to over-stretch. You are the judge of what is and isn't too much for your body.
  • Make sure you are eating healthy as well as exercising regularly. 
  • ALWAYS warm up before you stretch so you don't pull a muscle while stretching!
  •  

     

    I have been dancing since I was three and I have had good and bad performances. I have had a performance where a microphone was in the middle of the stage and once I had to dance in very slippery hay. But now as I reflect back on those times and realize that through those tough times, I have become a better dancer. If you really pay attention, you can see that only a fantastic dancer can make very hard dances look easy and beautiful when they are not really having an easy time.

     

    If you really focus on how some people think dance is not a sport because it is too easy, well... think again because dancers are just so strong and great that they can hide their struggle while performing and make it look easy.
